Well, what a way to spend Friday night...with a re-heated dinner in the office. You would think that I would be bummed beyond belief to get to spend tonight (the first night that Monty and I have gotten to hang out just us in almost a week) in the office. Yes, it's 8:15 and we are still here!! I quit working a while ago...and am now keeping him company while he chugs along. Anyway, my point is not to gripe about that; I say that because I am amazed at the grace God has given me to sustain in a way I never thought I could. Not just with stamina & patience but with a blissfully still mind, which is a rare occurance for me.
Last night a couple of ladies came over to pray and study the Bible. We are trying to start a group for working women expats. It was such a blessing to just visit with them, hear their stories, pray and saturate our minds with the truth of God. It is pretty impossible to find "real" balance in this place, but actually, I'm okay with that. God has a way of distilling our life sometimes and at this moment, it has become so narrowly focused...yes God has a way of centering me that is supernatural.
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now my dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all that you have learned and received from me--then the God of peace will be with you." Paul's letter to the Philippians. Chapter 4, verses 6-9 (emphasis mine)
