Well, it's been awhile...let's see lots has happened and in some ways...nothing has happened. We're working quite a bit (SURPRISE!) ...
What else. Well, we had a good Thanksgiving! Monty got to be home with his family and I made up for my quiet-regular-work-day-Thursday by eating two amazing Turkey dinners over the weekend (thanks to two very special hostesses and a couple of imported butterball turkeys! How much more blessed could a girl be?)
Monty really enjoyed his time in Abilene with his family. He was blessed to spend time with his mom, grandparents, siblings and dad, and he survived the whirlwind trip back and forth
I also got to experience some Christmas ministry to the beach community. I went with a group from church and, wow, it was everything I was afraid it might be...extremely chaotic and dangerously overwhelming, but also a time of blessing for some, I hope. I am trying to get my hands on some of the pictures taken from that day. The community is made up of many orphans, run aways, drug/alcohol abusers and disabled people. This was a rough crowd. And we came with a truck full of trash bags that were filled with zip lock bags of gifts/cloths. We (well, really one of the ladies) told the story of Jesus and shared what Christmas was about and then we tried to get the bags into the kids hands. Of course you can't expect that to go smoothly. But thankfully no one was hurt. And I was so thankful that Saidu was there with us. I have a new appreciation for him and I think I even surprised him a little that day! I put a picture up of us all in our long skirts (so as to not offend any muslims) looking like real missionaries!
